Privacy policy
Plain-language version: today we collect an email address for the launch list, we use it for the launch email, and that is the whole story. This page explains it in the detail a policy needs, without the wall of legalese.
1. What we collect right now
When you join the early-access list we store three things you type yourself: your email address, the first language you want to learn, and the plan you are interested in. The signup runs on our hosting provider's form service (Netlify), which also keeps standard technical logs — things like IP address, browser type and the time of a request — for security and abuse prevention. We do not run user accounts, so there are no passwords, profiles or learning records to protect, because none exist yet.
2. What we do not collect
We do not use advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent any data, and we do not build behavioural profiles. The product preview on the home page runs entirely in your browser; the example conversations, XP figures and partner cards shown there are illustrative content, not measurements of you.
3. How your email is used
Exactly once for the purpose you signed up for: telling you when SaluTalk opens, in the language you asked about first. If you reserved a paid plan we may include one line about how billing works at launch — as a heads-up, never as a charge. Every launch email contains an unsubscribe link, and using it removes you from the list. We will not add you to anything else, and we will not email you "just checking in".
4. Cookies and local storage
The site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. It stores exactly one thing on your device: a small local-storage entry called salutalk-theme that remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, so the next visit doesn't flash the wrong palette. You can clear it any time from your browser settings; the site simply falls back to your system preference. Hosting infrastructure may use strictly necessary cookies or similar identifiers for security and load balancing — that is standard, and it is not used to follow you around the web.
5. Where data lives and who sees it
Early-access entries are stored by Netlify's form service on our behalf and are visible only to the SaluTalk team for operating the launch list. Our hosting and form provider processes data under its own privacy terms; we chose it precisely because it lets us run this site without bolting on extra tracking services. If the team or infrastructure ever changes, this page changes with it — before the change, not after.
6. Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from the launch email with one click. You can also ask us what we hold for you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent entirely — join the early-access list and reply to any email you receive, or use the same list to flag a privacy question, and a human will handle it. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/EEA or California), you may have additional statutory rights; we honour them for the small amount of data we hold as a matter of course, not just as a legal duty.
7. When accounts arrive, this page grows up
At launch the app will hold real learning data: profiles, corrections, streaks, chats. Before that happens we will replace this page with a full policy covering that data — what is stored, for how long, what chatmates can see, and how reporting works — and we will notify the early-access list about the change. The short version we hold ourselves to never changes: collect the minimum, explain it plainly, and never trade trust for a growth hack.
